Renfrew Housing Market Update

In May 2026, Renfrew’s detached benchmark price was $729,900, compared with Calgary’s detached benchmark of approximately $773,500. This places Renfrew about 6% below the citywide detached benchmark, which is notable given its central location and strong inner city appeal.

Detached pricing was down 3% year-over-year, from $739,800 in May 2025 to $729,900 in May 2026. However, the longer-term trend remains positive. In the spring benchmark trend data, Renfrew’s detached benchmark moved from approximately $630,700 in 2020 to $729,900 in May 2026, showing meaningful long-term growth despite recent softening.

The detached market remained tight in May 2026. Renfrew recorded 8 detached sales, while months of supply sat at 1.38 months, keeping the detached segment in seller’s market territory. This suggests that well priced detached homes still had limited competition, even as benchmark pricing softened slightly from last year.

Compared with nearby inner city communities, Renfrew sits in a competitive middle position. Its detached benchmark price is below Crescent Heights at $754,500, Bridgeland/Riverside at $739,300, Inglewood at $738,300, and Mount Pleasant at $851,200, but above Ramsay at $673,700 and Tuxedo Park at $667,600.

The attached and apartment-style segments were softer. Renfrew’s semi-detached benchmark price was $975,100, down 3% year-over-year, while row/townhouse pricing was $462,400, down 6%. Apartments saw a May 2026 benchmark of $341,800, down 5% year-over-year, with apartment months of supply rising to 19 months, giving condo buyers significantly more choice.

Overall, Renfrew remains a strong inner city Calgary community with excellent lifestyle appeal and tight detached supply. Detached homes are holding up better than the apartment segment, supported by location, character, redevelopment potential, and proximity to downtown. Renfrew’s detached sector remains resilient due to its proximity to downtown and the Bow River.

Is Renfrew a Good Place to Buy Real Estate?

Renfrew can be a great choice for buyers who:

Want to live close to downtown

Are looking for an infill property

Want redevelopment potential

Are looking for rental or investment property

Want inner city living with a neighbourhood feel

Want quick access to Deerfoot Trail and major roads

Its central location, redevelopment potential, and variety of housing options make Renfrew a strong long term real estate market in Calgary.

Renfrew Considerations

The Lot Value: Many buyers look for these specifically to knock them down. If you’re buying to live in one, check if the RC-2 zoning allows for a future duplex (semi-detached) build, which significantly increases your land value.

Third Storey Lofts: Because Renfrew sits on a plateau, many new builds add a third level with a rooftop patio to capture views of the downtown skyline to the southwest.

The Escarpment View: Homes on the southern and western edges of Renfrew (near the Bridgeland border) sit on a ridge. Features to look for here are walk out basements and oversized windows that face the city core.

The Aquatic Centre: Renfrew has its own dedicated Recreation & Aquatic Centre. Homes within a 2 block radius of this and Renfrew Athletic Park are especially valuable to young families.
