Calgary Schools and Calgary School Rankings

Calgary boasts some of Canada’s best academic opportunities for students of all learning styles and abilities. Due to Calgary’s fast growth, some schools are at capacity – and navigating the system of which school your children will attend can feel overwhelming.  Don’t worry, we’ll break it down here. The Calgary Board of Education (www.cbe.ab.ca) is a large public school district with over 250 schools throughout Calgary. When you are looking at schools near a property, be sure to check the website and make sure the school has room for your child. Sometimes, a neighbourhood might bus their students to a different neighbourhood’s school if the nearest one is at maximum capacity. 

Calgary Catholic School District (www.cssd.ab.ca) is also a public school district, representing Calgary’s historically large Catholic population. Schools from this district are found throughout the city.

Rocky View School Division (www.rockyview.ab.ca) is a public school district in the West, North, and East of Calgary.

Foothills School Division (www.fsd38.ab.ca) is on Calgary’s southern border and encompasses Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, operating mostly public schools, alongside three Hutterite Colony schools in the rural areas surrounding the city.

Palliser School Division (Pallisersd.ab.ca) is known in Calgary for their faith-based and alternative schools. Because of Palliser, schools that would be private are classified as semi-private, and their tuition is more affordable for families than fully private schools.
